Getting Started as a Volunteer
There are many ways to be involved with Special Olympics Delaware. We’re here to help you find the right fit for you! Think about your skills and abilities, the things you enjoy, and the amount of time you have to give. Consider whether you can associate your volunteer time with your profession or your education. All of these factors will help you find the most fitting role for you and for the organization. And no matter what role you choose, you will play a vital part in getting our athletes off of the sidelines and into the game!
Sport Volunteer

Sport Volunteers serve in roles that have active and continual interaction with our athletes. The most popular role is that of a coach. Team assistants and Unified Partners (both youth and adult) are also volunteers critical to the success of our sport programs.
General Volunteer

General Volunteers serve in key roles year-round in the office and at sports and fundraising events. These roles include but are not limited to photographers, camp counselors, athlete mentors, committee members and office assistants.
Event Volunteer

Special Olympics Delaware holds several sports and fundraising events throughout the year all across the state. The events are possible thanks to hundreds of Event Volunteers. Roles include registration check-in, logistics, hospitality, referees and officials, fans in the stands, and so many more.
