Special Olympics Delaware offers a variety of fundraising events throughout the year.
Whether you enjoy running, golfing, driving a tractor trailer, riding a motorcycle or jumping in the ocean, there are plenty of opportunities to make an impact. When you participate in our fundraising events, you help Special Olympics Delaware continue to transform lives through the joy of sport.
Champions Together

Held annually in New Castle County and Sussex County in the Fall; Kent County in the Spring
Friends and supporters gather together for a luncheon to learn about, and potentially invest in, the mission of Special Olympics Delaware.
Law Enforcement Torch Run
Carry the Flame.
Held annually Wed thru Fri the week of Summer Games (June)
Members of law enforcement carry the Flame of Hope across the state, lighting the way for acceptance and inclusion. The general public can support them by purchasing a T-shirt to help light the way for acceptance and inclusion.
Lewes Polar Bear Plunge
Be Bold. Get Cold.
Held annually the first Sunday in February
Each February, thousands of “Bears” take an icy dip – either at Rehoboth Beach or virtually – and participate in an iconic Delaware tradition … and SODE’s most significant fundraiser.
Night of Heroes
Celebrate the Spirit.
Held annually – typically in the Fall
The Special Olympics community celebrates the organization’s successes and recognizes those who make it possible with an annual awards ceremony.
Over the Edge
Face the Challenge.
Held annually the second Thursday in May
Brave Edgers rappel 17 stories (that’s 222 feet!) “Over the Edge” of a downtown Wilmington building – conquering their fears to support the cause.
Reindeer Run & Romp 5K
Run and Romp for Respect.
Held annually the first Friday in December
From casual walkers to elite runners, and anyone looking for fun and festivity, are welcome at this nighttime 5K through downtown Newark.
Ride to the Tide
Rev up for Inclusion.
Held annually on a Sunday in April
Motorcyclists from around the region and beyond start their engines for a police-escorted ride from Rommel Harley-Davidson in Smyrna to the Lewes beach area.
Summer Camp Golf Classic
Golf for a Cause.
Held annually – typically late September
Golfers have the chance to play a round at the elite Bidermann Golf Course and raise funds for SODE athletes to attend Summer Camp.
Truck Convoy
Drive Change.
Held annually on a Saturday in September
Members of the trucking industry join together for a police-escorted convoy through scenic Kent County, starting at the Delaware State Fairgrounds.
