General Volunteers
Photographer (Age 14+)
Do you have the photography eye? We are looking for event photographers to join us as at both fundraising and sporting events to help capture the joy and triumphs of those that participate in and support our mission. This role is critical in being able to thank sponsors and summarize what Special Olympics Delaware does. Interested in getting involved?
Camp Counselor (Age 14+)
Camp Barnes is a 3 day, 2-night camp held at Camp Barnes, near Bethany Beach in August each year. Counselors are responsible for supervising (along with the Cabin Leaders) the 6-10 athletes assigned to their cabin. Cabins have 2-6 counselors. Counselors are expected to attend and participate in all activities and are expected to stay overnight in the cabins with their group.
Athlete Mentor
The SODE Athlete Leadership program is designed for athletes to develop leadership skills as they prepare to undertake meaningful leadership roles. Each mentor is paired with an athlete and they attend training sessions together. It’s the perfect role for someone who wants to volunteer with our athletes in a non-sports activity.
Office Volunteers
Office Volunteers assist in the office with administrative tasks as well as tasks in preparation for sporting or fundraising events. Tasks may include making copies, shredding, organizing folders, counting shirts or medals, organizing supplies, etc.
