COMPETITION
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

USA AND WORLD GAMES
Athletes can advance to higher levels of competition by meeting specific criteria, which vary by sport and event. The USA Games are held every four years, with participants representing Team Delaware. The World Games alternate between Winter and Summer editions, occurring every two years. At the World Games, athletes represent Team USA.
