Volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone of the Special Olympics movement. They enable Special Olympics to offer sports training and competition and provide our athletes with the opportunity to grow and showcase their skills. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the organization ranging from event management and coaching to fundraising and volunteering the day-of an event.

Coaches are among the most important volunteers involved in Special Olympics Delaware. As a coach you work directly with the athletes providing the instruction, guidance and support they need to succeed. Becoming a coach is easy! Special Olympics Delaware offers general and sport-specific training through on-line and in- person coaching clinics. Read more
Team Volunteers
Team Volunteers offer assistance to a local Program Director or head coach. Duties range from administrative to event chaperone. This is a great opportunity for that volunteer who doesn't coach or isn't sure if they want to become a coach. A team volunteer can become a sport coach if they so desire and are qualified. Read more
Unified Partners
Unified Partners are non-disabled peers who train and compete with Special Olympics athletes. Unified competition is offered in aquatics, athletics (track & field), basketball, bowling, cycling, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. Read more
Peer Partners
Peer Partners are regular education students within the same age classification or grade/class level who work one-on-one with Special Olympics athletes. The peer partner and athlete train together and then participate as a team at Special Olympics events. Read more
